Claude Usage Stick
Open-source desk gadget · MIT

Your Claude Code limits, glanceable on a tiny stick.

A standalone ESP32 gadget that polls the Anthropic API and shows your rate-limit runway in real time — no computer, no app, no cloud. Flash it from this page, set it up from your phone, put it on your desk.

LilyGo T-Display S3 · ✨ Dust · tier L — drag to spin

8 boards supported token AES-256-GCM encrypted on-device no cloud — talks straight to the API setup via captive portal MIT licensed

What it shows

The device reads the anthropic-ratelimit-unified-* headers and turns them into a dashboard that lives next to your keyboard.

📊

Live usage bars

The 5-hour and 7-day rate-limit windows, refreshed on an interval you choose (30 s – 5 min).

⏳

Reset countdowns

Know exactly when each window frees up — before you burn the last of your runway.

🥭

Model mascots

Haiku, Sonnet, Opus and Fable health from status.claude.com as blinking Clawds. A downed model goes gray with X eyes.

🔐

PIN-locked token

Your OAuth token is AES-256-GCM encrypted on the flash. The PIN is never stored — 10 wrong tries wipes the device.

✨

Web control panel

Since v3 the stick serves its own settings page on your LAN. Login is the device PIN — and a browser login even unlocks the screen.

🎠

Screen modes

Static, carousel or desk clock: the dashboard, a 7-day chart, Anthropic news and a clock, rotating on the dwell time you pick.

📈

7-day history

One usage sample every 30 minutes, kept on the stick's own flash. Time it spends off shows up as honest gaps in the line.

🔁

Token rotation

Tokens expire yearly. The panel swaps in a fresh one in seconds — write-only, verified live against the API, no factory reset.

boot — connecting and fetching usage
PIN unlock — buttons only, nothing stored
dashboard — bars, countdowns, model health

The stick is also its own website

Once it's on your WiFi, the device serves a control panel to any browser on the same network — open http://claude-usage-stick.local (or the IP the header shows) and everything you'd ever change after setup is right there. No app, no cloud, no account: the page comes off the stick itself.

  • Log in with the same 4-digit PIN as the buttons — it even unlocks the screen
  • Brightness, refresh interval, timezone, screen modes, mascots
  • Rotate an expiring token in seconds — write-only, verified live
  • The 7-day chart and the news feed, mirrored in the browser
  • Change WiFi or factory reset without touching the device

LAN only, by design — wrong PINs slow down exponentially but can never wipe the device remotely. That stays a physical-buttons privilege.

Flash from your browser

No toolchain, no drivers, no cloned repo. Pick your board, plug it in over USB-C, and hit the button — the firmware is written straight from this page over Web Serial.

OPEN THE PORTAL

Browse to 192.168.4.1, enter your WiFi, your OAuth token (claude setup-token) and a 4-digit PIN.
